My goal is natural and I'm pretty stubborn about things that deal with pain, so I think I might have a good chance. We'll have to see when the time actually arrives though...
I am undecided. If I have back labor like I did with my first no way but I want to try. Also I am going for a VBAC and I am worried if I do not have an epi in place and I have to go for a c-section they will just knock me out because there will not be enough time for the epi. I am just keeping an open mind this time.
I would like to go Natural. I can't stand IV's and pretty much pass out everytime I get one so I can't see myself giving in and getting an EPI or anything else! Needles+me=no no. LOL! I'm pretty stubborn also and like to prove others wrong and since everyone in my family thinks I will give in and get an EPI i'm planning on proving them wrong.
I'm going natural. ?Same as a pp, midwife doesn't bring anything with her so it's me and the hot tub! ?DH is going to be an awesome coach and best thing is he's been practicing his massage techniques!
That's the plan...hopefully I can follow through. My sister had a home birth and she gave me this advice, which I actually accept and makes perfect sense; but we'll still have to see...
In response to me saying I hope I can go natural....
There's no hoping about it, you just do it... you just bite your lip and you do it. Whatever you do don't lie down in bed and be passive. Get up and walk around and make it happen. Remember being pregnant and being in labor does not equal being sick, so don't let the doctors treat you like you're sick.
We're planning to go natural - we really need to practice relaxation. I mean, we do the exercises (Bradley method) pretty regularly but we need to work on getting me into a more relaxed state for the intense contractions.
My goal is to go natural and I'm hoping that the fact that I meditate will help me. Although, if one more person laughs when I say I'm taking Lamaze, I'm going to scream. Its totally mind over matter, and I say we can do it!!! Good luck!!!
If everything goes well, I have been planning to go natural from the get go, and I definitely agree with elena about moving around and not lying down. ?Gravity definitely helps!
Of course, I'm ready and willing to accept whatever medical interventions the baby needs, but I have been preparing my mind/body to go pain med free if possible.

Oh how I love my sister...
Your sister is wise.
Thank you. She breeds race horses so she knows a thing or two about labor and being pregnant and if a horse can do it naturally so can we!
I am going natural AGAIN! This will be my third time. I took a hypnobirthing class with my first and I reread the book with my second and I will do it again this time.
My hypno instructor told me that,
When you feel like you can't do it anymore you will have that baby within the next half hour,
and BOY was she RIGHT!!!
I know people who have done it both ways natural and had an EPI and they said they will never again get an EPI. They couldn't feel if tey were pushing right.
Planning on going natural too. It is driving me crazy that so many people say that I'm crazy. Luckily DH believes in me and understands why I want to go natural. I think I may have made him into a monster though because I had him read and watch all this stuff about how bad c-sections are. I also told him he has to be my voice when times get rough. I think he really might throw down with the doctors if they try and section me.
I am planning a natural delivery. ?Nice to see others too - generally faced with laughing, disbelieve, etc ("Yeah - sure - wait until your in labor" attitudes, along with "I didn't feel I needed to be a super hero when I gave birth...")
?Figure it's been done this was for centuries - I'm meant to do this! ?(:?
I'm planning on having a natural VBAC and I'm REALLY excited about it. My practice is very supportive and I'll have a doula, our moms (both of whom did natural deliveries) and my DH to support me.

This is us, the homebirth midwife doesn't bring anything to help with pain except coping mechanisms, ideas, and a pool of water, lol. I've been doing Hypnobabies program (not the Hypnobirthing book) and that has put me in a confident mindset. We also took a natural childbirth class and read a lot about it. But I know reading about a place is very different than actually going there.
Re: Who is going for Natural?
ME!! and I have no other options since my MW doesn't bring any epis or anything...DOH!
that's my plan we'll see how it works out

I'm planning to birth this babe at home--so natural it is!
