i don't know all the details, but she's having a hard time bf-ing and the baby is crying around the clock. she's pumping while her dh is feeding the baby.
i'm going to suggest a lactation consultant and HBOTB, but what else should i tell her about bf-ing?
can anyone (renee?) recommend a lactation consultant in greenville, sc? they are a young couple without a lot of money. what other resources are out there for her?
thanks!!

Tales of the Wife
thanks!!!
Ok, apparently I have quick friends who like to talk about boobs. LOL
One friend worked with Donna McRee at Greenville Memorial and liked her a lot. She said they have a BFing support line too - 864.455.2229.
Another attended a BFing support group through St. Francis Eastside ... she said they have LC's who do individual sessions too, she just did the group instead. They also have a support line - 864.675.4215.
If I hear back from anyone else I'll let you know, but hopefully that can get her started!
thank you so much! i have forwarded that info to her. i'm sure she will appreciate it and i will keep you posted!
It could be that the baby has colic or gas. If she is supplementing at all she may want to try and reduce or stop that if possible. My first DD wanted to nurse all the time so I just crawled into bed and let her nurse; I was a nervous wreck about bfeeding and I think that hurt my supply. It sounds like she may be nervous too and that can affect her supply. She needs to do whatever it takes to RELAX. Does the baby stop crying if she lets them nurse? If so, I'd let them nurse as much as possible; it will help her to relax, help the supply and baby will be happy too.
If she needs to increase her supply she could try taking fenugreek tablets (you can get them at most health food stores) and she has to take enough to make her urine smell like maple syrup. As long as she doesn't have a nut allergy she can take the fenugreek. She may already be doing this but she needs to constantly be drinking water and eating oatmeal; or at least I felt like I was constantly drinking water and eating oatmeal. That really seemed to help my supply.
Contact La Leche in South Carolina, here's their link https://www.lllusa.org/SC/
I called La Leche and they were so nice and helpful. It was free too.
Tell her to take it one day at a time and it does get easier.
Good Luck,
