I'm 32 weeks along and haven't had another ultrasound since my 18 week appointment. I keep reading that other pregnant women have had more than just the 2 I've had, and my new Doctor (whom I've met one time) is telling me that there is no need to have another u/s this late in pregnancy unless I'm measuring too small or too big. Is that right? I'm sure that there has been significant developmental change in the baby in the past 3+months and for my own peace of mind it would make me feel better to physically see that she's ok. I dont know if I should push her to give me another u/s or if I'm just being paranoid. Any advice? WDYT?
Re: Ultrasound Question
With my first, I only had one u/s at around 19 weeks. With this one, it's a completely different story. I've had 5 u/s so far because my baby is very small. My OB wants to keep close tabs on her size to see if she is progressing.
I know u/s are fun and it'll make you feel better being able to see your little one on the screen again, but it's stressful having them repeatedly knowing there's the possibility of something being wrong.
It couldn't hurt to ask for another one, but if your OB says no, I guess you'll have to trust that everything is just fine. Also, I'm not sure that your insurance would cover an additional u/s if it's not really warranted. I hope you'll continue to have a healthy pregnancy.
