So I have this very nice man in my department who eats lunch in our little staff room every day and chews with his mouth open and sometimes talks with his mouth loaded with food. Today it was carrot sticks and every bit was smacky and loud. Last week it was a tuna sandwich. In both cases I was so grossed out I had to leave.
Now - this bugged me before but I only had to leave if I had PMS otherwise I was going to grab his tongue and tie it around his neck. Noisy rude eating is my number one neurosis. I can't stand it. At this point I am looking at having to eat alone in my room every day. Teaching can be a rather lonely job (I know - sounds illogical but you are surrounded by kids all the time and it isn't the same as peer conversation) and I think I will go nuts if I eat lunch at my desk.
I've got to talk to him this week before I do something crazy or throw up on him which, come to think of it, might work pretty well....
Re: "Could you chew with your mouth closed please..."
so gross, although tuna fish is pretty bad.
Hand him a paper towel or napkin and tell him to quit spraying his lunch. Then pretend you are gagging. He might get it.
I HATE it when people chew with their mouth open...or smack their food around. So nasty. Just like chewing your gum and smacking that around like its super juicy or something. Come on people! its called manners! Ironically, I work with a lady who loudly chews her gum like its going out of style. She'll call you out on your rude manners but don't you dare tell her that her chewing is offensive!
