TMI, but asking anyway...

I've been "sick" since last night.... drank 3L of water, 3 cups of tea and 2 of chicken broth because I felt weak today plus 4 immodiums.  Is this something that I have to worry about passing along to DS tomorrow or this week?  I know that these things are sometimes viral.  I'm just worried because I don't know what to expect or do other than keep myself hydrated and him as well if he gets sick. So far DS is fine, he's had crackers, some fruit and tried some of DH's yogurt for a snack and is drinking water just fine.  Am I being a worry wort?

Re: TMI, but asking anyway...

  • Both DH & I had the stomach flu - and passed it along to friends we saw after we were feeling a lot better, but DS was fine.  We were (and still are) breast feeding at the time, so that probably helped (obviously, we had plenty of contact with DS while we were sick).  So, there's a chance your  DS will be fine.

  • I know it is hard not to worry, but if he is going to get it from you, he is going to get it. You might as well just watch his diaper output and temp and try not to stress. Easier said than done, I know!?

I asked around last week, because I had strep, and the consensus of my local was that if you bf and get it first, your LO is less likely to get it. I don't know how true that is, but DD didn't get strep from me!

I hope you feel better soon!?

  • I don't have much advice, but (((hugs))) and I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Well, certainly take precautions (limit exposure, lots of hand washing, etc.) to prevent transmission (viral or bacterial - it can still be transmitted. I mean, you caught it somehow, right?)

But yeah, there's not much you can do.  Get thee some pedialyte and some rest. :)  And if the immodium is not helping after multiple doses, you might need to call a doctor for yourself.

    GL!
