3rd Trimester

I really wanted to go naturally

but I can hardly even handle these and they are only 7 minutes apart.

I thought I was strong but now I think I am a baby!

My doctor said not to call until they were 5 minutes apart.  So, no...I'm waiting.  I'm sure they will go away- and he's just playing a joke on me!

  • Just keep repeating "this will end"  Just try to make it one half hour at a time.
  • Ha! This is totally my fear. I'm hoping to go natural as well, but I can just imagine myself screaming for an epi at 1 cm.

Best of luck to you! I hope labor goes swimmingly.

  • You can do it!  Get out your birthing books and re-read the sections about "letting go" and envision your blooming flower...  haha  Or maybe take a bath and try and get some sleep.  Keep hydrated and try and eat if you can!  Good Luck!
  • Just out of curiosity, did you read/practice any particular breathing techniques??

I read the Bradley Method book...well I skimmed it.  I didn't take the classes because I thought they would be a waste of money.  I mean...c'mon...I know how to breathe!  OR SO I THOUGHT!!!!!!!

  • Focus on what DOESN'T hurt during the contractions.  Do your feet hurt?  Do your fingers hurt?

Take it ONE contraction at a time, and just try to relax through each one.  Picture a "doh" expression and do that - slack jaw, and zero expression.  Heck, even drool if that means you're relaxing your face

    Good luck!

Try to completely relax your body during each contraction.  If you're not tensed up, it will hurt a lot less.  Just let your uterus do its job.  You can totally do this!

I have my natural birth story in my bio if you're interested...

    GL!

I'm reading a Bradly Method book too, by a lady though. I also did not want to spend that kind of money on a class!! I told DH if I'm asking for the epi while we're still at home you better let me have it! :o) I know if I can't handle the early stuff I will never make it through the whole thing. Is it late enough where you are to try to get some sleep to get through some of it??

  • I know you can do it! Just remember once a contraction is over, it's over forever and you never have to do that one again and each one is just hard work being done to get your baby here.
  • I don't know if you are still around, but I second a warm bath. And try a heating pad. Rocking, moaning/chanting. I ultimately got an epidural, but those techniques helped me to get to that point.

Every contraction gets the baby closer. Tell your DH to keep telling you what a great job you are doing.

Don't be scared. You can handle this. You were made for this!
