EGG Donor experience

Hello all-

I will be meeting with RE on Friday. My FSH is 16.6 and I have a low ovarian reserve. I know that he will be pushing toward Egg Donor. Anyone have any experience with having an Egg Donor? I feel so broken.

I'm sorry for your bad news. Take your time and ask your doc lots of questions. There are ladies on Success after IF who have achieved pregnancy with high FSH levels - you might ask them what protocol ultimately worked for them.  You may still be able to get pregnant with your own eggs.

Shoud you decide to pursue donor eggs, scroll through some of the threads below - we are a growing group!  Right now there are a half dozen or so of us who are in various stages of the DE process.  We have a weekly check in too - let me find the link to the last one:

I myself am in the midst of my first DE cycle after four failed IVF cycles of my own.  I have plenty of eggs but for some reason they all stink, so we're outsourcing to someone with better material.

It's a tough decision but I feel very good about it now. Please feel free to joing us and ask lots of questions!

    GL!

  • Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I will definitley start monitoring the thread.
  • Me! I'm right in the midst of my first DE IVF cycle.

It's a really big step so don't rush yourself. Consider all your options and decide if DE is right for you. Let yourself really think about it and if it feels right.

Like Epp said feel free to join our group and follow along. There are some great resources out there books/websites/etc. I'd highly recomend checking out PVED.org and "having your child through egg donation" both are great resources for people considering egg donation.

    Good luck

  • Hi!  I also have high fsh and DOR so am using an egg donor (and also live in Chicago!).

It was definitely a hard pill to swallow at first, but after it sunk in, I was happy to just be given the opportunity to have a baby even if it's not with my egg.

As the others mentioned, there is DE check-in on Tuesday mornings. Feel free to check it out and join if you're ready for it.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask away.  A lot of us DE girls post with the heading "DE Girls - ..." so that the other de girls know we're looking specifically for them.

     GL!

  • I am gearing up for our first cycle as well
  • And, I'm part of the group, too.  I had a 3dt from my DE cycle this past Saturday after 7 other IVF attempts, 4 of which went through ER/ET.  I don't have high FSH but have low ovarian reserve an suspected poor egg quality.

If you find yourself moving in that direction, we are definitely a great resource with lots of different experiences.  We have women who have used agency donors and women who have used clinic donors.  I don't "think" we have any known egg donors, but we do have a woman using a known gestational carrier in our group.  We've all had different experiences that have brought us to this point and share on here and some of us in our blogs.  I first began pursuing DE 2 years ago and there was nobody here going through it.  Having this support resource has been invaluable and we'll all be here for you, even if, as I hope and pray, we've all found success through our DE cycles!
