One of my best friends is due tomorrow and she is naming her daughter Moriah after Mt. Moriah in the Bible. Just curious what you all thought.?

I'm going to be the outcast here because Moriah is the name of my best friend (since 7th grade so it's been a while), and she is such a fabulous person that this name only screams amazing things to me. I think that most people are surprised at first by how she spells her name, but everyone really warms up to it after that (and especially after getting to know her). Over the years, she's gone by several different nicknames amongst our close friends - Mo, Riah, Ri (like rye). I think the sound of the name is beautiful, and I don't think the spelling is as off-putting as it may seem on first glance.

Mt. Moriah is the name of a big street in my H's hometown, so I think of car dealerships, traffic, and a strip club that used to be there.

Even if I didn't have that association, it would still be NMS. A place name is a place name, regardless of whether it's a place from the Bible.

I guess I'm going to be only the second person to say that I like it. I think it's beautiful. I also like Moira, so maybe it's just that I like the Mo names Smile
