Success after IF

is this something happening...? (labor related)... idk what to think...

so i went to the bathroom a little while ago and i had the teeeeeensiest bit of very very light tan spotting.  i haven't had an internal since last tues, and i did spot for a couple days after that but it stopped.  and the only other time i've spotted NOT right after an internal was when i was admitted to the hosp at 28w4d with contrax every 2-4 minutes (that i didn't feel.)

then i started feeling some super low cramps, very slight, pretty much exactly like i get at the very onset of AF cramps... low and pinchy sort of.  and i had at least 3 strong vaginal cramps as well, like intense pinches.

i don't feel any contrax, but to be fair i have NEVER felt a contraction, even when they were very much there.  you'd think by now i would feel them though... with the belly as HUGE as it is.

so my plan is to wait and see what happens over the next hour or so.  the spotting seems to have stopped, it was just one little tiny bit.  i don't want to call my dr and end up in the hosp if this is nothing, or just further cervical dilation or whatever ( a week ago i was 1cm.)

but what do you guys think?  TIA for your help!

  • Do you know why you weren't feeling the contractions before? I'd be worried that you aren't feeling them now and could be in labor. I would at least call the doctor. Even if you get sent to the hospital needlessly for a few hours, IMO it's better than delivering twins at home!!! :)

  • Hmmm...its hard to say.  You are nearing the end, so thngs are giongto start to 'happen' down there.  Could be cervix openeing a little and that can cause spotting and loss of mucous plug etc.  I would wait and if you continue to have spotting call the doc and def call if you start to have contractions.  Although, for me, REAL contractions were just so obvious--that there was just no doubt I was having them, but everyonei s different.  You are so close!!!

  • sounds like the beginnings of labor!

My contractions felt like extremely painful menstrual cramps even when I was in active labor.  The spotting is most like the beginning of bloody show.

Try to pay attention to what you are feeling, contractionmaster.com or a good old pen, pad and a clock will do the trick as well.

    ((HUGS)) and good luck!

  • Personally, I wouldn't read too much into the spotting. It could be the start of your MP or just something moving around... I would wait for one of the bigger signs. Like water all over the floor ;-)

  • I agree...with your past experience, I would call the doctor. What is you are contracting again and don't know?? Better safe than sorry, Gretchen...even if you do get put in the hospital for a bit.
  • I should clairfy that I was in labor for 3 days before going to the hospital and all of my contractions during those three days were painful but not nearly as bad as what I felt when in active labor.

ITA with the other posters keep track and communicate with your OBGYN

  • Wow. I have no idea what might be happening, but labor sounds pretty realistic to me! You know I expect you to have these kids in March, so I'd be right if you really do go into labor today!!!

Good luck and keep us posted!!!!

  • I say call your DR esp. given your past history, just to keep them in the loop, they may want you to go in to L&D and be monitored...I'd rather be safe...KWIM?
  • I obviously have no idea either but it sounds promising!  Keep us posted!

  • My OB wanted to know about any spotting, but I have to admit I may have had a little bit of tannish spotting when wiping and not called her.

I would just wait for now.  Be aware of what's happening and if you start feeling any contractions, call you doctor, or if you have more spotting you might want to call.  But I wouldn't necessarily call for one little spot of tan.

Poke your tummy every once in awhile and see if it ever feels harder than other times.  If it does, I'd say you're having contractions.

    Good luck!

  • I would agree with what most other people are saying.  It is likely the start of things but early stages.  My water broke after a few days of me feeling twinges, lightning crotch, some tightening but no real contractions.  Also I had spotting allllll the way through my pregnancy so I don't know if the little tan color is something or not!

Regardless you are so close now!  YAY!  Good luck!

  • It may be the early stages of labor. Like you, I was hospitalized with contractions that I was not feeling either. I have had 1 or 2 since that I have felt and they are just an AF type of pain across your lower abdomen and last about 30-45 seconds before stopping. I would track it and if you are still experiencing spotting or pain in an hour or two I would call. GL!!

  • I couldnt feel my contractions either and the only way I could tell was to leave my hand on my belly and feel the tightening.  I would do this for about an hour and then evaluate whether to call - good luck!

  • I had this happen to me! My Dr said it was my mucus plug starting to come out. It did this for a couple days.

  • I'm not sure since I had to be induced but sounds like something may be starting to happen. Good luck!!!!
  • If I had to guess, I'd say that's probably a bit of mucus plug coming out.  I can't imagine that you wouldn't feel anything and be in labor.  Lie down for an hour and keep your hand on the part of your belly where there are no baby parts.  If you feel it getting harder and softer, then maybe it is contrax and I'd call if they are timeable.  But I bet they're not.  I think you're going to make it to your schedule.  That's my guess.
  • I was just talking to a coworker of mine yesterday and his wife never felt contractions (all the way to the end). ?When they had her hooked up, everyone was really surprised because of how strong they actually were. ?She only ever said she had back pain.

I'd love to say I'd wait a little longer, but I know I'd probably be at the hospital to see what's going on. ?But I totally understand not wanting to be admitted unnecessarily!

    Good luck!?

  • Since I was induced, I have absolutely no clue.  But GOOD LUCK!!!  I hope the twinkies can stay in a bit longer, but it is so exciting to know that something may be starting!

  • I agree to give them a call if something else happens... I thought a few times I was spotting when really I just cut myself shaving blind down there!!! lol thought you would like that. But if you see more spotting I would give them a call but now just relax and wait!
