Bedding sets or just sheets?

I'm wondering if you all are using bedding sets with bumpers, etc or just buying sheets. I think I have read that you're not supposed to use bumper pads because of suffocation concerns. Thoughts?

Re: Bedding sets or just sheets?

  • We did not use a bumper or quilt with our first child and will not with this child either....not worth the risks to us. We do however use a crib skirt to help the room feel pulled together.
  • Loading the player...
  • I am just getting sheets and a bed skirt.  Sets are so expensive (some more than our crib cost!) and seem somewhat pointless 99% of the time.

Check out Cozy Wedge for a cute, but safe bumper option.  We're also getting that I think.

I did buy a PBK bedding set b/c it was on sale and I couldn't pass it up when I was doing a white and navy room, but now that I am not, I am trying to sell it.

  • We are having a girl.. and I really hate how everything is PINK and FLOWERS... lol  so we are just doing sheets and stuff

We are getting the Lilac and Leaf sheets in solid and gingham and lilac and leaf crib skirt... and a breathable bumper....they have it in the leaf color

When she gets older we will get the down comforter.. we are getting the stuff from The Company Store :)

  • JCM083009 - I think you may have the PBK bedding I want! We aren't sure that we're having a boy yet though but if so I would be interested. Are you selling yours online somewhere?
  • As much as I have fallen in love with so many of the crib bedding sets, we're just using sheets, crib shirt, and breathable bumper from BRU).  We have many different colored sheets as well as a couple of different crib shirt designs so we can change things up a little bit if we want to.  MUCH cheaper then the bedding sets as well!!!
  • Just sheets for us!
  • I used a bedding set with our first and will with our 2nd.  As soon as they can start moving around you're supposed to get rid of the bumper.  This worked fine with DD.

It's up to you, whatever you are comfortable with using.  They do sell the mesh bumpers if you haven't seen them.  I think One Step Ahead might have them or at least BRU should.

  • I made the crib skirt and we're just doing sheets.  No bedding for us.

My sister purchased an entire set and felt it was a waste of money be/c she never did put the bumper on except to take pics of her nursery and the dr. told her not to put the quilt over the baby.
