Well, my short vacation is over and I can't say it was all that fun.
On Friday, soon after landing, I received a call from RE with a Donor update. The report was GLOWING! Donor was responding to stims well, she had a few good follicles, her blood work was great and she was right where she was supposed to be. We were all so excited that we went out for a nice dinner to celebrate. The entire dinner conversation was about what it will be like when I'm pregnant, who we were going to tell first, when we think s/he would be born, etc, etc, etc.
Fast forward a mere 14 hours to the second donor update - it's been canceled because she didn't change over 12 hours. I was in absolute shock. I was literally walking into a Red Sox game and I had to go back to the car for almost 2 hours because I couldn't stop crying - I could barely form words at all. It was such a punch in the stomach.
We've lost our second donor, 5 months, and about $10K. When the donor agency called me today, they told me that they've never known anyone who lost 2 donors. Well great! The thought of having to go all the way back to square 1 makes me ill.
DH and I aren't really sure what we're going to do next. I'm not working and I don't think we can afford a 3rd attempt at finding a donor - it's just too expensive. We're going to sleep on it tonight. I'll hopefully have an update for you tomorrow.
Re: IF ruined my vaca :-(
OMG. That is AWFUL! Honey I am sooooo sorry
Can you get any money back from the agency? That just seems super shady to me...
If you do decide to continue on this path, please please please consider finding a clinic with a shared risk plan - that way you have some insurance. It is more money out of pocket, and yes, DH and I could have bought a nice car or put a down payment on a home with how much we are spending - but it is guaranteed. If we do not take home a baby, we get it all back. We are financing it over 4 years with a fixed rate loan which makes it more affordable.
I am just ill for you - sending you HUGE hugs through the interwebs...
