Would you go to this type of event?

I have a company and we host seminars, luncheons and special events for mothers in our area. We are looking into putting together a workshop on 'Preschool Admissions' - giving you all the information that you need to start the process of enrolling your little one. The principal from a very prestigious preschool in the area will be our speaker. The workshop will probably be around $20 or so. Would you attend an event like this?

Re: Would you go to this type of event?

  • YES - in fact I am working on putting something like that together for my MOMS Club where the pre-schools send reps, information, etc. Pre-school admissions here is crazy, though. At one place I have to get in line at 5 AM to get a ticket to put DS on a waitlist - its like trying to get tickets for Madonna or something. Ridiculous.

    Meh.

I might attend if it were free, but I wouldn't pay to hear someone from an expensive preschool try to sell me her school. I think you're charging the wrong group for their participation; this is advertising however you try to dress it up.

I don't think I'd attend it even if it were free. Sorry. Maybe if you had someone from many of the local preschools there, you might have better luck. That way parents could have a way to compare/contrast all their options.

  • Thanks for the opinions. It wont be trying to sell there school - more to give parents information on the school available, what to look for, how to start the process, etc.
  • I would, because I live in an area where preschool admissions is like college admissions.  But if I lived someplace where the process was more normal I probably wouldn't.
  • If I were organizing the event, I'd make it a tradeshow type of event (with speaker) and charge the different preschools to "sponsor" the event and to have information there.  I'd make it free for the parents.

    Ditto

  • Yes I would!  In fact, I'm trying  to find something like this because I don't know many parents in my area and nobody with a preschool aged kid, so I'm totally in the dark about the whole thing!
