c-section question

I am curious...Why do most women who are pregnant with twins have a scheduled c-section?  Is it because a vaginal birth brings a huge chance of complications when you are having multiples?

Re: c-section question

  • I had my boys vaginally. But I think it is 50% vaginal and 50% c/s. Just depends on the way the babies are positioned. Some ladies chose for c/s b/c their is a possibility for Baby B to flip position after baby A is delivered vaginally. Then you will have vaginal and c/s birth.?

  • mine was scheduled because Luke was breach.
  • breech......sorry, I hit post too soon.
  • i would MUCH prefer a vaginal delivery :(  but baby A is breech, sitting on my cervix for many months now... so c/s is the only option.

  • My doctor said it was up to me as long as baby A was vertex.  She was transverse, but I elected to have the c-section from the beginning so it didn't matter in my case.
  • my ob was willing to "try" a vag delivery as long as A was head down, but from the beginning I wanted a c-section.  I DREADED the idea of having a vag delivery then c-section for baby B, plus the risks for baby B, even though they were minimal, were just too much for me.

This is me exactly.  My Baby B is so active, and is constantly moving around.  While both babies are head down now, the doctor said it is just as likely that Baby B will flip around and try to come out breech.  In my case, my Baby B is about a pound heavier than his sister and he has a huge head.  I am terrified of tearing!
