Anyone familiar with the heartrate gender predictor? 140-150 bpm is supposedly a boy, 160-170 bpm is supposedly a girl. A few of my co workers are pg, one isn't going to have a 20w ultrasound and we are having fun trying to guess what she is going to have. I looked at all the old notes I took at each appt with my other pregnancies and it stands up for them... we'll have to see about this one. Anyway: what is your babies' typical heartrate and what are you having?
148 bpm; find out in 4 weeks!
Re: just for fun: old wives tale....
Mine is always in the high 150's and 160's. I think it's a girl (for other reasons, nothing to do w/ any OWTs), but we'll, hopefully, find out Wednesday for sure.
I heard under 140 is boy, and above is girl.
We are having a girl and hers usually runs in the 150-160, but at our BIG u/s it was 133.
150's and it's a GIRL.
Half right for me...
at 17w, hb was 156
at 22w, hb was 138
He's still a boy!

The OWT I'm familiar with is anything over 140 is a girl, under 140 a boy.
She has been around 150 the whole time.
Heartrate was 155. Won't know the gender for a while... not even sure when yet. I think we'll schedule the appt when I go in on Monday though. I'm SO ready to find out now... I have been getting the "baby shopping itch" pretty badly lately. My aunt "gets feelings" sometimes about random things, and she thinks girl. Her "feelings" have never been wrong yet... but there IS a first time for everything! So far, EVERYONE thinks we're having a girl. Knowing my O date and when we had sex... its probably more likely that our LO is a girl, but we'll see!
This would not have any affect on the gender.... it is based on your husbands sperm.... x or y... whoever makes it in...
Mine is in the 150's-160's and we're having a boy. ?I think it's easier to tell by where you're carrying - high vs. low. ?
?Low = Boy
High = Girl?
My Doc said there is nothing scientific about this. My HR measured 125 at the 6 week, 174 at the 9 week U/S and in the 150's last time. My girlfriend just delivered her second boy and his hr was always in the 170's but her first boy was down in the 140's.
6w = 175, 14w = 152, 15w = 153, 19w = 132 (big u/s). I'll let you know when we reveal that envelope- your guess is as good as mine!
"This would not have any affect on the gender.... it is based on your husbands sperm.... x or y... whoever makes it in..."
I read in "Getting Pregnant" and don't quote me on this, but I think.... it said that the "male" sperm die earlier so depending on when your egg releases, if the male sperm die then the "female" sperm will have the best chance of meeting the egg. I think that translates to if you want a girl have sex early (?) in your cycle, if you want a boy then late. Who knows!
And as for hr- ours has always been high 150's to 160.... will find out WEDNESDAY!!!

I read that the closer to O you have sex it increases your chance of having a boy. I actually used this since we wanted a boy, I know 50/50 chance, but we got a boy! If you were to have sex 2 days before O = greater chance of girl, day of O = greater chance of boy.
My boys hb has always been in the 150's.
Heart rate was anywhere from 150 - 170, in the beginning. Then it was always around 160. I'm having a girl so I guess it was true for me
Last night, as I was drifting off to sleep, I thought of posting this exact same thing! At 8w our hb was 151, at 12w it was 150, at 16w it was 140. We aren't finding out... but I am curious!
I just read an article today (hence why I didn't post this) that explained where this myth comes from. AFTER birth, boys have slower heartbeats and girls have faster heartbeats!?
This is totally an OWT and not true!
I am having a girl and her bpm has always been between 133-142. At the last three appointments (I get p-17 shots and they check it every week when I go in for those) she was 137 each and every time. DS was always in the 140's. She has been much lower than he was.
