Ok so I need help/ideas for DS 1st birthday party. It's not til July but wanted to start planning so I won't be running around all over at the last minute. I don't plan to go too big since he is too little to remember. But I do plan to have something small just for close family. The kids ages that will be attending so far are from 1-9 years. I want it outdoors but the only thing is here in Texas summer is really hot between 90 + degrees. Plus some of the kids that are attending are very picky eaters. They are use to pure fast food something I don't do much so it's hard to come up with a menu. Please help. Thanks
Re: 1st Birthday Party Ideas
I had a "bug" party for my DS's first bday. We rented a bounce house which was a huge hit. I had a bug cake
On my kitchen table I put the cake in the center and all the food around it. I didn't do themed food, but I put extra bugs on the table looking at the food and I put a fake green grass on top of the table cloth. I had just enough left over from the stuff I bought to put on the floor of DD's outside playhouse over the summer. For Favors I got white bug boxes from Oriental Trading, made labels to go around them to match the invitation that I made (which looked like a bug jar) and filled them with gummy worms, centipedes and other gummy bugs. The invitations were a bug jar that I ordered as a 5x7 photo and put into red envelopes. It was really cute....
With it that hot, I'd try to plan on some water activities. For Gracie's first birthday, we did rubber duckies. I made duck ponds out of storage containers and blue food coloring in the water for the kids to splash in. We bought a bubble machine and set up our beach ball sprinkler and kiddie pool (we gave each kid a light-up rubber ducky as a favor and they had fun playing with those in the pool). We had a taco bar for the lunch and cupcakes with blue frosting and rubber ducky decorations.
