Interesting article in the NYT today. It seems like this is happening to more and more of us and I tend to notice a trend of posters suggesting that contacting a lawyer should be the next step after a layoff. This points out the difficulties in proving discrimination based on pregnancy. Anyway, just interesting.

My company would have no qualms about laying off a pregnant woman in today's economy. If you got sued, all you'd need to do for your defense was remind everyone the lay off occurred during the worst finanical times seen in years.

Thanks for posting. I was laid off at 36w, the day after I was eligible for disability. Unfortunately, I was trying to get some extra work done and didn't file
I don't think I'd have a case, since I was 1 of 400 worldwide, but the timing does seem rather convenient for them. Grrr...
