I started stims on Saturday night, Follistim at 200, so I've had only 2 nights of stims and had an E2 check today. They just called and said it was a 36 and to increase my Follistim to 300 tonight and tomorrow and come back Wed. Does my E2 seem low, is increasing stims normal right now?
Also, I'm currently using a 600 cartridge, so I've got 200 left and then I'll have to switch to one of my 900 ones. I've heard there's more than 600 in a 600 cartridge, but surely not 100 more to equal my 300 dose tonight, and does it show up when you dial a dose or do you have to draw it out with another syringe? I'm guessing I should dial up 200, take that shot, then start the 900 and dial up 100 and do a second shot?
Re: E2 questions from a first-time IVF'er
Since this is your first IVF, your doctor probably started you off at a lower dose as to not over stim. It is a lot better to increase a dose then to decrease it after you stim too quickly.
My doctor does not check my e2 level until after 4 nights of stims and at that point he likes to see e2 over 100, so based on that, I think you are doing good. Med increases and decreases are normal and nothing to be concerned about.
Yes, you can dial up the remaining amount of your pen and then the difference with a new pen.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!

I'm always surprised at how much they overfill the follistim pen.
Dial it to 300 units and inject. If the plunger doesn't go all the way down it means the cartridge is empty, leave the plunger where it stops, pull the needle out of your belly. Put in a new cartridge and a new needle, then re-inject by pushing the plunger down the rest of the way. There's no need to set the dial twice.
