How to include no present please in invite

I am sending out DS's invitations this week. I don't want anyone to feel like they need to bring a present to his party we just want everyone to have fun. How can I include a cute saying to say this?

Re: How to include no present please in invite

  • we did an in lieu of gifts bring a book to be donated to a local soup kitchen.  a local soup kitchen likes to have books for children handy.   so we did that for dd's first bday. Still, some people brought presents.

  • IMO you don't. I hate getting invites that say no present, and bring one anyway. It puts people in a bad position. Some people bring gifts, some don't. You invite people to a party let them bring what they want.
  • I just sent my DD's out, and we ended up saying- Your company is all we ask for, no presents please.

It seems to be very common in our circle of friends that people not bring gifts to parties. Most ask to donate to some sort of organizationor another. We didn't even want to do that. So we very simply asked for no gifts.  I guess some might be offended if it is not the norm in their circle of friends, but for us, it the out of the ordinary to actually bring gifts to parties. To each their own.

  • I did that for DD's 1st bday. Everyone still brought a present. The only difference was that they now felt uncomfortable about it....

I will never do it again.
