Do you let them stop if they want to?
Yesterday was day 1 for DD. She had a few accidents, but made it a few times into the potty chair. She was so proud of herself, and loved wearing the "big girl panties" but today when she woke up, I asked her if she was ready to put on her panties, and she said "No Mommy! I not wear dos today! No potty chair!!!"
I have had her in a diaper today because I figured it wasn't worth fighting about.
Thoughts?
Re: Once you start potty training.....
I've always heard "don't push them, they'll do it when they are ready and it'll be easier on both kid and parents."
But I'm not to the PTing stage yet so I can't speak from first hand.
DH and I got into an argument about this. DH said we shouldn't push him.
I KNOW Miles is ready to potty train. With him it is a control issue.
He would ask for a diaper but I told him no. I very calmly said we go pee pee on the potty. Please go pee on the potty.
we would go through this several times. Finally he stoped asking 40 times for a diaper (2 days in). He still asks for a diaper when he actually needs to go but I tell him no just pee on the potty.
He is 3 though and I know he is ready. I don't think DD (just turned 2) is ready. She almost is.
Mine needed the push and is doing well now. I didn't make it a negative experience for her but didn't take the first NO as the answer. I mean she's two...her answer to anything I want her to do is no.
