Anyone who does Weight Watchers or any healthy eating for weight loss

I am trying to lose some weight.  About 10-15 lbs.  I am not doing weight watchers, but have done it before.  I don't have a problem changing eating habits, but I am a picky eater and really don't have any ideas of what to eat.  I do okay for breakfast and lunch, but never know what to eat for dinner.

What are some simple, easy things that you eat for dinner?

  • The key is portion control. What is served and what "we" are accustomed to is way way way more than we need and what is truly healthy. Of course it's best to also eat a balanced meal and to avoid fatty foods but it is also very important to only eat a reasonable amount of food. A great tip is to eat a hearty salad first and fill up on some good veggies etc. then move onto your entree. It also helps to eat slowly and give your food time to digest. When I do that if I go to eat more I just feel too full.

  • When I did WW I was prtty strict with breakfast and lunch so I always had a decent amount of points left over for dinner. That way I could eat whatever I wanted, I just had to watch my portions. I usually had oatmeal and a banana for breakfast and a big salad with a little bit of protein for lunch. I always want to eat more at night, so that worked well for me.

  • I drink a big glass of water when I first sit down at the table, then I have a big salad (or portion of veggies), then I eat whatever the rest of the family is having for dinner.  We do a lot of vegetarian dinners like: bean tacos, veggie chili, tofu/veggie stirfry, and black bean soup.

  • We eat a lot of grilled chicken, as well as fish.  Like pps said, it really is about portion control.  Here is a super easy salmon recipe that is really good, and good for you.

one small can of pineapple juice (the ones that you buy in the six pack)

3 tablespoons soy sauce (I use low sodium)

    1 tablespoon brown sugar

Warm this up in a pan on the stove, and cook the salmon in it over low heat until the salmon is cooked all the way through.  If you want to make it into a glaze at the end, you can turn the heat up, and it will make the sauce thick.  This is enough sauce for two pieces of salmon.

I also cook cod (or whatever fish you like) in the oven wrapped up in a foil pouch with a ton of zucchini and yellow squash and a little Mrs. Dash for flavor for about 25 minutes at 350 degrees, and it's really yummy.

  • I just eat whatever the family is going to eat-- just MEASURED portions of it.

I don't just say "eh, that looks like a cup of pasta." I get out the measuring cup and check. What you think is a cup is probably more like 1.5 cups.
