NTTTCR - How does Twitter work?

How to you sign up to twitter and once you do, how does it work? I understand you get texts on your cell from other tweeters?

    Twitter is basically just a status update. You can set up if you want to receive updates from the people you follow or not. You can follow people that you know, or if they have a similar interest. I follow people that I know through knitting or Etsy. You can update your twitter from your cell phone if you are out and something is interesting. On the sidebar of my blog is my latest twitter updates if you want to see what it looks like.

    The easiest way to start is www.twitter.com and sign up for an account. You can also do it from your cellphone but I don't know how to do it that way. Start following people and you can turn on or not each person you follow's "tweets" so that you get them to your cell. Each tweet can only be 140 characters max
