Okay next question- checking on your DC at night

How many times during the night/day  did you check on your DC?  We have a monitor that is pretty sensitive, but if he is in a really deep sleep we don't here anything- so I find myself going in there  if he's napping in his crib to make sure he is breathing.   When did you just trust that your DC will be okay?

  • Um, Ava is a year old, and I stumble in there at least twice a night and poke her. I let my wild imagination get the best of me. If I wake up and it's 5am and she has not peeped, (and I slept hard enough to STTN myself) I freak out.

  • When my child is actually sleeping, I check on him a couple times, either night or nap. I have gotten really good and focusing in him to see him breathing so I don't have to go and actually touch him.

Honestly I don't think I will ever stop checking on him, I am just getting better at being sneaky about it.

  • We have the PNP in our room at the foot of our bed and I crawl to the end of the bed at least 2-3 times a night to check her.  When it's DHs turn to put her to sleep after a night time feeding he always puts her in the nursery in her crib and I go in there 2-3 times to check on her (or send DH to check her if I'm to tired).  We don't have the monitor in her nursery right now because we have it set up downstairs on her bassinet (that's where she sleeps and where we hang out during the day).

I'm watching her sleep in her bassinet right now on the video monitor and she's in the next room:)

  • jake only sleeps in his bouncy seat, so I just keep it right next to my bed or couch...wherever I happen to be sleeping.
  • I still check on her and she is in the bassinet in our room on my side of the bed at night.  I check on her before I go to sleep and at least 2x during the night.  If she is too quiet during her day nap in the crib I check on her too, and that's with the regular monitor & the angelcare monitors as back-up.

  • During the evening I go in once when I wake up to pump... that is if I don't hear him sigh or anything over the monitor.

During the day I check on him when I pass by his room on my chores. I also have the sound monitor up and as of this week-end a web-cam.

  • I still check on him at least once, usually twice, before I go to bed at night.  When he was that young, I was paranoid that he'd be too hot or too cold and would stop breathing so I checked on him a lot.  It probably took me about a month to calm down about that.
