Success after IF

If you use as little light as possible for night feedings/diaper changes...

Um pardon the dumb question, but how the heck could you see while changing your DS or DD?  Do you just hope for the best (that you got your DC cleaned up as best you could)?  I got a nightlight, that works pretty good and I can feed him no problem.   I guess I'll "see" tonight how it goes.  My mom had been staying with us for the past week, so she's been getting up with him for his middle of the night feedings, but she can't stay forever.  So tonight it's me.

  • I just have a nightlight in her room and it is by the changing table...I can see just fine for changings

  • I hung a taplight over the changing table.  It's enough light that I can see what I'm doing but doesn't wake the baby.  Feeding the baby doesn't take much light and always did that laying down in bed.

  • I just do the best i can with a dim lamp and then do a better clean up in the morning.

Married June '03. DS born Jan '09. DD born Feb '12. No, we didn't choose to be childless for the first 6 years, only the first 3.
  • I had a wipes warmer that I rarely used but it had a night light that we set up to point directly at the bum. ?Worked great!

The idea of a tap light is great too. ?Any small light, easy to turn off and on, and can be put at the foot of the changing pad so it's not in baby's eyes should solve your problem.

FWIW - I could go with half assed cleanings with one child but the other would get bad rashes. ?It's all about what works for you and your little one!

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • night light by the changing table.

If he poops we will sometimes turn on the hall light and crack the door to make sure everything is cleaned up properly.

  • We either turned on the hall or bathroom light and cracked the bedroom door, or we use our head lamp. DH has a head lamp and it is easy to carry and the light is enough to see but not enough to disturb DD much. I still use it to check on her before I go to bed.
  • i had DH put a dimmer on the overhead light in the nursery where the changing table is.
