Recommend your video camera (mine broke)

We want something that will go straight to DVD. Is there such a thing?

    We have a Panasonic HDC-SD9 that records in Blu Ray format...DH loves it! We found it on sale at Best Buy back in December for $500 and it retails for $1,000 so I'm sure you can find a good deal on one, too.

    DH just bought us one of those that records onto SD card.  The video seems to be pretty darn good...the camcorder itself is lightweight, small, and holds a ton of video..and the battery lasts a long time.  So far no complaints.  And then when u want to transfer to DVD u simply drag and drop from sd card onto the DVD drive on computer.  Lets see....we have the Canon FS100.

    Wr have a Sony digital camcorder that goes straight to the hard drive or sd card. I love it.

    I highly recommend one that records on a Hard Drive built into the camera.  It has more room.  Most that don't only record up to a an hour at the most on the tapes and other formats.  I have a Sony Handycam HDD DCR-SR40.  It can record 8-9 hours. I have never filled it up.  It also has a DVD setting where you push one button and it burns to DVD.  You just hook it up to your computer, start it and select DVD Burn.  I never use the DVD Burn right away.  I do the back up to PC and then the software lets you pick and choose which to burn to a single DVD and you create the title and it or you can create the menu.  It is not that expensive either.  They run between $300-$400.  It also has night vision so you can get video of your baby sleeping in the dark : )

    We just bought a Sony DCR-SR47, which has a 60GB hard drive, which can hold up to 45 hours of video.  An extra battery would be the only thing you'd definitely want to get with it, as you'll run out of juice long before you run out of space.
