What else could it be? Food allergies

We've been going through an elimination diet to figure out what allergies DS has.  The pedi has thought that it's dairy and soy.  I've cut out ALL dairy and soy.

DS had more mucousy diapers, tinged with green over the weekend.  I realized that I ate several eggs between Fri and Sat.  Plus I made soup with egg noodles on Thurs and Fri.  I thought he might be having a reaction to the eggs.

He had diarrhea this morning (looks like shaken up orange juice coming out of him).  I called the pedi and asked if DS could be allergic to eggs instead of soy or if he could be allergic to all 3 (dairy, soy, and eggs).

A nurse called back and said that the doctor doesn't think DS it's the eggs and that they'll discuss it with me at our appt on Friday.  I asked what it could be and she repeated that they'll discuss it with me on Friday.  Friday seems so far away!  Now I'm worried that it's something more serious or that they're going to tell me to just switch to formula.  I'd rather get this figured out and continue to BF.

Anyone experience anything like this or have any ideas?

  • sorry to hear your little one isn't feeling well. just curious - with a breastfed baby, how can you tell that he has diarreah? When exclusively bf, my ds's poop was always very soft/runny, yellow or green and seedy. How would I know if he has diarreah? Its changing a little now because we're starting formula/weaning in prep of me going back to work.

Married June '03. DS born Jan '09. DD born Feb '12. No, we didn't choose to be childless for the first 6 years, only the first 3.

I didn't know it was diarrhea until I described it to the pedi and they told me it was.  We give DS a lot of air time to prevent rashes due to his digestive issues so I see him poop a lot.  It comes out of him like shaken up orange juice.  VERY acidic.... orange bubbles.
