What are your opinions on "ZORB"?

I myself am a little wary, because they won't say exactly how it is made and I'm all about natural fibers. The name Zorb sounds so unnatural. Here's where I found most of my info on it....https://allaboutclothdiapers.com/what-is-zorb-do-you-know/

  • and one more thing...the zorb people seem to hate hemp...what's with that? Hemp is my current fav for diaper making

  • I have the exact same questions.  I love hemp, so I don't get that.  It sounds like it is a blend of natural and man-made (viscose) fibers.  I bet it is a non-woven web.  My company does non-woven web stuff and what it is, is plastic (viscose in this case) gets melted and blown through a die with little holes, and you get these tiny fibers that as they cool, you push them into a flat piece of "fabric".  How they incorporate the natural fibes, I am curious about that.  If it is a nonwoven web my concern would be long term durability.  Which may not be an issue if it is encased insise and IAIO or soaker.

I am going to stick with flannel and hemp for now.

  • i don't know anything about zorb except that a local mom made me a free fitted with a zorb snap-in soaker (she was thinking of starting a wahm diaper business).  it's soft and kinda squishy - kinda nice but sorta weird if it's not a natural fiber.  it didn't hold up very well. two small holes after about 6 mos of use.  but we still use it b/c it's a cute diap.
  • It's the same as Zorbeez, the Billy May version of the Sham Wow. I've heard very mixed reviews from a diaper making website that I frequent. Some people love it but others complain that it compression wicks a lot and that it doesn't hold up well. I would say it's definitely not a natural fiber.

  • Zorb has to be between layers of fabric otherwise it falls apart, or so I am told.

It works GREAT!  I love it.  I have a fitted made with it and 4 inserts (sandwiched between bamboo).  I am getting a few more for nights to pair with my new foofoo hemp :)
