We started from the first day he was home from the hospital, but the times have adjusted slightly based on what his bedtime was at different ages. What can I say? I like routines. It has always been:
Bath, boob/bottle/sippie cup, 2 books, bed.
We stopped doing milk before bed a couple months ago because he really didn't need it anymore and we brush his teeth during the bath. We also always put him down drowsy, but awake.
Ours is fairly flexible, but loosely- I put her in the bath about 8:30, read her a story and give her a bottle and then she's in bed by 9:15. I've been doing that since she was about 3-4 weeks old. Some nights she doesn't get a bath, just her bum changed and jammies on.
Re: Bedtime Routine
we started at about a month old, more to get DS into a routine than to get him to sleep better:
6pm - Bath
6:15 - 6:30 - books 3-4 always ending with the going to bed book.
6:30 - Bottle
We play DS lullaby music during bottle time, and usually put him in his crib by 7pm. Sometimes he is fully awake sometimes he is drowsy.
At this age you really can't do that because it is part of ST but you can at least start to get them in the habit.
