Colace. But my PNV this time around has one built in so don't know if I need the extra extra help this time around. But yes, take it and drink a bunch of water. Trust me.
No, I won't be taking a stool softener in advance. I have the generic version of Colace in my medicine cabinet from needing a stool softener in the past. I prefer to go naturally. My mom just recommended bringing prunes and other high fiber items to the hospital to keep things moving along.
I'm going to start about a month in advance. Probably Colace.
The 1st post-partum poop was the most frightening 10 minutes of my entire life. One hundred times worse than labor and deliver. I was actually praying to God and I'm an atheist, for the most part. That's how bad it was.
I've been taking Colace because my doc recommended it since I'm on iron pills for anemia. I haven't noticed much of a difference with it, but maybe it will help for after birth, idk.
I've been having this problem from the 1st trimester, unfortunately. The best invention in the world is Miralax!!!!!!!!! I take it every day. It is gentle, doctor-approved, doesn't taste yucky.
I had tried some other things and they were either too harsh (ouch!) or not strong enough. I would recommend Miralax. My doctor told me to bring some with me to the hospital. Since it is over the counter, the hospital will not have it there.
I don't know if you have to take it a month in advance...but maybe a week or so in advance would be good. I was given colace in hospital after I had DD. I didn't have any tearing or an episotomy so it wasn't really crucial for me...though things were still a little sore down there, but if you were to tear or had and episiotomy I would say it might be a good idea. I also don't know how that would effect things during delivery and pushing...Some women do poop while they're pushing so I don't know if taking a stool softner before delivery would make it easier to go while you're pushing the baby out.
I take peri-colace as needed, but if you look at the directions (for colace and peri-colace) it says not to take for longer than a week at a time unless told otherwise by your doctor, so I don't plan on doing anything ahead of time.

Same here. I haven't started the Colace yet, as I just started my iron pills, but I'm already seeing my regularity cease, so I'll be starting that this week. I'm starting either Colace or MiraLax, I haven't decided which yet.
Re: speaking of the 1st poop... is anyone taking
