Why *I* like this board (and my pet peeve)

What I like:
Everyone is nice and civil and polite and mature, for the most part.  I posted a question on 0-6 the other day and I got a few responses saying "WHY would you do that?!"  Yeah, it could have been a lot worse but when you're used to people who reserve judgement to answer a question, it can sting a bit when people are judgmental and don't sugar coat their response.  I felt like I was in 7th grade again, and my feelings were a wee bit hurt.

As for pet peeves on the nest...I really can't stand the phrase "sexy-time."

My top spelling pet peeves:
When I was brand new and on BOTB someone wrote "WAH-LA!" for "voila!" which killed me and DH & I still use this today.  Try it - it's fun!  But I don't think she was doing it for fun. :)

Can't stand seeing "persay" for "per se."

Childhood cancer (DH) + chemo + radiation = 0 sperm.
LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).
Life is beautiful!

After the fact, I saw your post on 0-6 and my feelings were hurt for you.  They jumped on you and were not nice.  As for sugarcoating. . . there were ways that they could have asked you the same questions without the attitude and condemnation (as well as rush to judgement).

I appreciate the kindness and support here too.

  • Thanks, Smudges*Mom!  I'm just glad it wasn't as harsh as what I sometimes see!  I don't think I'd have survived that!
