pedicure - or not

I never asked my ob about it and I have gotten a few throughout this pg without even thinking about it.  I'm not sure how much truth there is to the whole pedicure = labor, but my feet are looking something awful since I can't even bend over to take the 15 wk old nailpolish off of my big toe!!  The only reason I'm concerned is bc I'm 35 wks and dont want the babies to come just yet.

What do you think?  Pedicure bringing on labor = OWT or is there truth in it?

Re: pedicure - or not

  • Just tell them.  It has to do with them rubbing your foot a certain way but I'm not even sure if its or real.  Enjoy :)

  • Yep it has to do with rubbing certain pressure points in your feet...just tell them you don't want them to rub your feet and opt for a mini-pedicure with just the basics.

  • I had one around 39w!  :)  I don't think there's any truth to it at all.  But, if you're concerned don't get massaged.  Just the nail care.

  • I'd ask for the most basic pedi they can give--you want your feet taken care of but, perhaps, not all the massaging and kneading.

I got my feet done last week for the first time in 10 months--and I just like looking at my pretty toes!

  • I say go for it!  You deserve a little pampering.  Just tell them to play it safe with you!

  • I had my last pedi around 36 weeks and delivered at 38 1/2 weeks with no problem!
  • When I asked my OB, I said I read about pedicures bringing on labor, etc she said she's read about it too but has yet to see it happen!  She was just pregnant and had her monthly pedicures through all 9 months.  She told me to go for it and enjoy all the pampering.
