I really want the travel system, but you can only use it for about 8 months and then need a bigger car seat. They make newborn-4yrs car seats and then I'd only need one. What are you opting for?
I was going to go for one of the convertable 0-4 seats, but after talking to several moms, I decided to register for an infant seat.?
The bigger ones apparently don't recline enough to keep their heads from bobbing around and falling forward when they sleep... even with the snuggly head thing. ?
We are planning on getting two strollers (1 heavy duty and 1 jogger), so it made sense for us to get the travel system and then get the convertible car seat later on (or have someone gift us one at the shower). I like the ability to snap the infant seat into the stroller, as well as being able to just take baby right from the car still in the carrier without having to wake her up. Some people think they are a waste of $$, but I like the convenience factor.

I am opting for both. Those convertible car seats are so big and bulky. I want the convenience of being able to easily move my newborn in and out of the carrier and not have to take them out of the whole seat, especially if he is sleeping after a car ride. I also feel that it is safer to have an infant in an infant seat. Even though the convertibles say they can hold small babies, it doesn't seem like they offer the support of the seats made for smaller babies.
We are doing an infant seat...we are definitely planning on at least 2 kids, so $75 per kid doesn't seem so bad. Also, our laws here require at least a booster until 8 years old, so at a year or so when baby grows out of the infant seat, we will invest in a convertible that will take him all the way to regular seat belt. Graco makes one that my niece got that converts to a booster, then a backless booster as she gets older, so they only have to buy it once.
Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.
Both. ?The convience of bringing your sleeping child in and out of the car in the infant seat is a must. And the infant seat does a much better job at supporting the head and neck of a newborn. ?The convertible seat is a great option once the baby has outgrown the infant seat.?
we debated this for a long time. We still ordered a convertible carseat for DH's car and an infant car seat. We didn't get a whole travel system since I found a different stoller that I really like.
DH wanted to be able to take the baby out and bring the carrier inside with us. Then we started to think about all of the situations where you wouldn't be able to hold the baby or wear him in a wrap... it would be pretty handy to be able to set the baby down in a safe place.
If you get a larger infant seat, such as a Graco SnugRide32, it will fit a child up to 30 pounds and 32 inches long....it fits around 97% of children for at least one year.
We registered for a Graco travel system (Quattro in Deco) and the Snug Ride frame?to keep in my car. We figured we would need a full sized stroller one he's big enough and it's for up to 50 lbs. I carried a whole bunch of infant car seats in Babys 'r Us this weekend and there wasn't much of a weight difference between the Snug Ride and Snug Ride 32.
I want my baby in a infant car seat for as long as he can be in one.
When he outgrows it, we'll get another car seat and deal with it then. And at least the stroller part of the travel system will still be good.
