TTC After a Loss

Girls that had a 2nd tri loss. Questions....

I have two questions....

1) How long did it take for your bleeding to completely stop after delivery?

2) How long did it take for your milk to dry up?  And is there any tricks you used to help it along?

Thanks for the info girls..  I am just wondering how long I am going to bleed.  Unfortunately I bled for two weeks prior to this so I am really sick of bleeding.  I am hoping that it will stop soon..

Re: Girls that had a 2nd tri loss. Questions....

  • I bled for about 2 weeks, the first week was atrociously heavy and really clotty, the second week was like a period and tapered off into spotting.

It took my milk about a week to dry up.  Once it came in I wore a tight sports bra at all times, took ibuprofen, and put ice packs on them-hurt super bad!  I know some girls used cabbage leaves, but I didn't go quite that far because I thought it dried up pretty quickly.

I am so sorry that you have to go through all this.  PM me if there is anything I can do or you want to talk :)

  • I did't actual deliver our baby, I had a D&E, to prevent an infection from developing, since my water broke but I wasn't having contractions.  I bled for about a week, maybe less.  I don't remember having any milk.  I had my m/c at 18 weeks, so maybe it depends how far along you are?

  • I'm so sorry for your loss.

I bled for almost 3 weeks, it was extremely heavy.  I was very careful not to take hot showers and wore a tight sports bra so my milk never came in.

  • First of all Cowgirl let me again say that I am SO sorry for your devestating loss.  I have been thinking about you.  We lost our baby at 20 weeks and after the delivery I bled not too heavily for about two weeks.  It wasn't too bad but I started bleeding again a few weeks later because some of the placenta was still intact so I had a D&C a month later.

You should be finished bleeding within a few weeks and expect your first natural period to be alittle heavier than normal.

I'm so sorry you have to go through this.  ((HUGE HUGS)) and please PM me if you ever need to talk and/or vent.  You and your family are in my prayers.
