from their hospital and/or drs office? DH thinks we need to have a back up plan in case we can't make it to the hospital when the baby gets here. If you do live an hour or so away, do you have a back up plan?
You should talk to your Ob. Some women are induced if they live a distance from the hospital to make sure there are no emergency deliveries in the car!
we're 30-45 minutes depending on traffic/time of day, the hospital is in a college town so it can be slow moving through 15 stop lights during the afternoons/weekends. We don't really have a back up plan, just leave early and ignore them when they say "oh you can stay home a while longer"..I refuse to go to the local hospital and put myself/baby at risk of poor care.
I am an hour away. DH and I were just discussing this. I'm going to talk to my doctor about it at my appt on Monday. Previously my doctor told me they have lots of clients from my area, so I know I'm not alone. I would prefer not to be induced (unless medically necessary).
We live 45 minutes away from both hospitals we are considering and our MW office. We don't have a back-up plan because I'd rather have this baby on the side of the road rather than in our local hospital. My MWs are not concerned with the distance either.
Right now I don't, but I work an hour away. Once we move, I will be. We don't have a back up plan set up, but there are closer hospitals than the one I currently go to (I just prefer the one I'm at), so if something comes up, we'll just go to the closer hospital. My only "plan" is to head straight to the hospital at the first sign of labor, and if I'm too early still, I'll hang out at my brothers since he lives close by.
Our OB knows, but hasn't said anything about it. DH is an EMT and says he has no problem if he has to deliver the baby on the side of the road. He likes to remind me when he took his state exam, he scored the highest on the OB section. UUUMMM..no thanks!! I need to stop watching amazing babies when I go home for lunch!
I live in a very small town in the middle of nowhere, our hospital and Dr.'s office are 60 miles away with nothing between here and there With both of my previous pregnancies I had average labors so I don't think there is a risk for me delivering on the side of the road. I have a couple friends that live here and go to the same Dr as me and they are talking about inducing because we live in BFE. I will talk to my Dr. this Friday about what our back up plan should be
Re: Does anyone else live an hour away
We're 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic.
We have no back-up plan.
