I know this is very early to start thinking about... I haven't even gotten my ER/ET done yet. BUT I like to think ahead and I was wondering when you would first hear the heartbeat. I was thinking that would probably be a safe time to start telling our close friends and family, but I am not sure how long that is.
When did those of you who have had BFP's after IF tell people you were preggo?
Re: question about BFP's
I believe the first time you can detect a HB is around 6 weeks-ish.
I never got far enough along to tell anyone. After my second m/c DH and I decided we'd wait until 12 weeks to tell people if it happens again. Though my parents had to hear I was pregnant once I was already miscarrying, so I'd likely tell them ASAP so they could hear some good news for a change.
ETA: I believe you can SEE a HB at 6 weeks, but don't know how long it is until you can hear one.
You might want to try SAIF, I have never heard a heartbeat so don't know.
In my pregnancies, h/b was first detected by ultrasound around 7w, but in each case my only ultrasounds before that were still in week 5 so it may have been detectable earlier as well. As far as hearing it, my OB won't try to hear the h/b with doppler until 11-12 weeks. The first time I heard them in pg#1 was 12 weeks, pg#2 I think it was 11.
We told immediate family and closest friends right away b/c they read my blog and I announced after beta. Otherwise, 1st pg we told other people around 13-14 weeks, but this time because we're more cautious we didn't really tell anyone until around 16 weeks and then only those we had to, otherwise we've only told people if it comes up and there are still people we haven't told even though I'm almost in my third trimester.
Good luck!
you already got the HB info above so i will just answer your question about telling people
i told everyone on this board immediately
but we didn't tell our parents until i was about 6 weeks along. we told close friends shortly thereafter but don't plan on announcing it to everyone else (including posting about it on FB) until closer to the end of the first tri.

we heard the heartbeat at 6w... but then lost it at 7w. I know the chances of m/c lower greatly once you've heard the h/b, but now that i've been "burned" (for lack of a better word), if I ever get pregnant again, I'm sure I'll be super cautious for awhile.
ETA: oops, sorry, we didn't "hear" the heartbeat, we saw it on the u/s.
