BF moms - nursing covers?

So do you really use these, or does a blanket work fine? They look kind of scary, huge and apron/tent-like. Do I need one?

[ETA: I don't mean this as in "do I need one or is it ok that I just show my boob?" Def not trying to start that discussion. It's more like, "There's a nursing cover for really cheap. Do I buy it or skip it and just use one of the bazillion blankets people are already sending?"]?

Re: BF moms - nursing covers?

  • I used a nursing cover and definitely was glad to have it over a blanket especially when Natalie became more active and would try pulling it down -- much easeir to do with a blanket than the cover. ?If you get a cover, I would get one that doesn't have a pattern on it. ?The pattern became very distracting for Natalie when she hit 6 mo or so -- she'd want to look at it instead of nurse.

  • I love, love, love, love, love my nursing cover! ;-) My mom made it from a pattern I found online. I LOVE the part that bows out. That way I can easily look down and see how she's latching. It's made of a light cotton, but even so, it gets warm under there. I can't imagine using a blanket. That'd be WAY too hot!
