can i take anything for morning sickness/nausea?

this morning sickness really isn't fun. ?i haven't actually thrown up but maybe i should, and maybe it'll make me feel better. ?they say to eat smaller meals throughtout ?the day, but i hardly have an appetite, so i'm pretty much forcing myself to eat, and it just feels like it's all going to come up. ? ?can anyone suggest anything to help?

  • B6 and half a unisom is FDA approved for morning sickness.

If you really can't find relief, your doctor can prescribe something like Zofran or Phenergan, which should help ease the nausea.

  • hello! i have been feeling the same way, i find that before i get out of bed in the morning if i drink some ginger ale and eat a few saltine crackers it realllllly helps! also throughout the day i have been eating some cherry flavored life savers, for some reason they seem to help a little! also i am trying to drink lots of water! i dont know if that helps but it seems to make me feel a bit less queasy! =)
  • b6 and unisom.  Warning:  It will knock you out.

  • I've had HG with both my pregnancies and am either allergic or have horrible side effects to any medications they can give for m/s. This time I've found that what really helps when I'm just nauseous is coke syrup - they have it behind the pharmacy counter. I drizzle a couple tablespoons over crushed ice and drink it over the course of a half hour or so.  It helps settle my stomach.
  • My advice-- get used to it.  It's just something that goes with pregnancy.  If you aren't throwing up, you won't get dehydrated so I doubt the Dr will give you anything.  Also, my Dr told me the meds they give have some risks to them.

I have been throwing up since 6 weeks.  It sucks.  I sometimes almost breakdown, but these ladies are great support!

  • Also watermelon jolly ranchers, ginger candy, and eating plain 'ol watermelon have been major staples for me.
  • I drink a cup of hot ginger tea when my m/s gets bad.  It helps quite a bit.

  • I picked up "preggie pops" at Motherhood and they help me every time.  I've also heard that any sour candy will help.
  • I was feeling the same way as you until my doctor suggested taking 25 mg of B6 with each of my 3 main meals.  That along with eating something small every 2 hours seems to be working well. If your morning sickness is mostly at night then I would try the unisom B6 combo to help you sleep.

  • I had pretty bad nausea/vomiting for a couple weeks and called my dr who said to take vit B6. I took 50mg in the AM and 50mg in PM right before going to bed and it made a WORLD of difference! I HIGHLY recommend this!!

If this doesn't help, call for a prescription of Phenergan or Zofran (both of which will make you very sleepy, but if your desperate enough)

  • Ginger is AWESOME, I highly highly recommend it for nausea.
  • Talk to your doc they can give you give you a Rx  I'm taking Zofran but there are some others out there.  It help me with my nausea a lot but sometimes I still get sick but it is nice not to feel nausea all day.
  • the thought of food, anything food makes me sick. ?i haven't actually thrown up. ?but the nausea is 24/7! ?i can't do anything, it's sooo hard to work! ?i guess i'll ask the dr. ?thanks everyone, all great advice! ?i just hope it doesn't last the whole pregnancy!
