Nurseries and Baby Gear

Dwell Studio...

We just found out we are expecting, so I know this may sound like I'm moving a bit too quickly. This summer we are remodeling our bathroom and putting in new windows and carpet. The bedroom that is going to be the nursery is currently our office and is the room that's getting the major overhaul. I figured since the carpet is going to be replaced, it would be smart to get the painting done for the nursery before the old carpet comes out incase there happens to be any spilling. So, I feel like I need to pick out bedding and paint colors a little quicker than I would have. We aren't going to find out the gender of the baby, so I was looking at the Dwell Studio bedding at Target. (The one with the yellow, green, and brown squares and circles.) Does anyone have any opinions on this bedding or room decor ideas? I'm not set on that set, but just want something that's more modern and nothing with characters or animals on it. I also wanted to stay away from a complete bedding set because I don't feel like I would use all the pieces it comes with. Thanks for your help!!

  • your tastes seem to run the same as mind and after hunting, i'm leaning towards custom bedding. there are a few vendors on etsy and a few others you can find through google. i also just posted below asking for other recs, so you might want to check out what's there.

  • Check out the nursery bio, there is a room that uses the circles theme and it is really cute. I'd stick with a neutral paint color.

  • I don't have that particular set from Dwell, but I have another one and I really think it's great quality for the money. There is really no reason to spend a ton on bedding when the only thing that can really be used when he/she comes is the sheet anyway! But I think that set could really look great with some of the "mod" white and wood furniture from Walmart, and then do some DIY art with the same colors, and maybe ever some paper lanterns in the same colors as well. GL and can't wait to see how it turns out!

  • While it's really cute, you don't sound sold on it AT ALL.  Don't rush into a decision - you can always paint the room tan and it will match anything.

I'm not a fan of traditional gender neutral colors, so I bought the Amy Coe Simply Swirl bedding (before I even got pregnant LOL!)   It is brown with white circles, so I could do pink or blue accents but it would work for either.  It is now being discontinued at BRU and people are getting it ridiculously cheap ::tear::: But I had imagined almost the EXACT set for a year beforehand, so I KNEW it was what I wanted when I saw it.

Don't rush into a bedding choice - that's how people end up with 2 or 3.  It's like wedding dresses LOL - it HAS to be right.  It's the focal point of the room.
