Infertility

Cholesterol question...

Okay so I switched my primary phy. and they wanted me to have complete physical including bloodwork.  Saturday I received my cholesterol results and they were high...227.  Triglycerides were 393!!!  I have my first RE appointment May 12.  I have to go back June for updated bloodwork.  Does anyone know if they won't let me go ahead with a plan if my Cholesterol is too high???  I've taken it pretty serious and started 'diet' they recommended, but I'm afraid it won't be in enough time????

Re: Cholesterol question...

  • I don't think there is any reason why you couldn't do fertility treatments with high cholesterol. I also have high cholesterol (hereditary) and I've been off of Lipitor since 12/07 while trying to TTC. I'm sure mine is high now but I can't take medication for it while we're still trying.

  • I have been dealing with high trygylcerides for past few years and adding fish oil tabs have really helped my numbers come down, a little each year. Most of it is family history, but I don't always have the best eating habits.

  • I also have high trygylcerides. I saw my regular Dr. in Jan 2008. Since then I have been eating better and also taking fish oil and flax seed pills. You can get these at Costco or Sams for really cheap. I take 2-3 a day of each. My RE knew about the levels and didn't say anything. I saw him in March so right after I found out.
  • Thank you ladies.  That makes me feel better.  Thank you.
