In need of a little encouragement...

This past week has been awful...  Last Sunday was my ER.  We got 14 eggs...4 fertilized and of that two were fair so we transferred them on Tuesday.  I had a ton of pain after my ER that didn't really start to get any better until late Thursday.  Wednesday I started getting bloated despite  drinking a lot of Gatorade, which I was told would help.  As of yesterday I had gained 16 lbs so I went to the doc this morning and it is OHSS...tomorrow morning I have to go in for them to drain some of the fluid.  They say this will help with the pain and make it a little easier to breath (I have fluid in my lungs too).  I am just really nervous.  They said it is basically the same procedure as the ER and I was in so much pain after that...I am terrified of feeling like that again.  UGH... I really hope that despite all of this I get a BFP because DH and I decided that I can't go through this again.

Has anyone needed to have fluid drained from their abdomen (I forget what they called the procedure)?  How did you feel afterwards?  TIA

    I'm so sorry you're in pain! I haven't ever had OHSS but I hope that the fluid draining goes as well as it can.

    And I think you definitely deserve a BFP after all this!

    Well, my fist IVF is in april and you have officially scared the shiiiiit out of me! I'm sorry this happened and i just wanted to say i hope you feel better.Try to relax and take it easy for the next couple of days.

    I'm sorry...didn't mean to scare anyone....I know this doesn't happen to everyone...it is just the way my body responded.

    My RE told me that if I had to have fluid drained, yes it's a lot like ER, but having the fluid gone should make me feel 100x better.  I never got OHSS, but I did retain some fluid for quite a while, so I was uncomfortable.  He said I would be sore, but feel less overall pain and discomfort if that helps.

    Oh my Gosh, I am so sorry. I have never had that. I hope it goes okay. You really deserve a BFP this cycle.

    I am soooo sorry about this. Something like this happened to my coworker and she said OHSS was the absolute worst thing. She ended up fine but felt frustrated and hopeless. Unfortunately she didn't get  a BFP that time but went through another cycle later and got her BFP. So don't get discouraged. Hopefully after they drain the fluids you will get the BFP that you deserve.
