The pcos study at CCRM is IVM. Has anyone tried this before? CO is a long ways away from us, and we want to cycle at CCRM, but can't afford it. They have this study right now, and we're going to "meet" with one of their Doctors to discuss it.
So I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it?

Re: IVM?
I feel like I've seen a couple girls do this on SAIF. You could ask there.
I've read a couple links on it, but I know we aren't doing it, so I don't know too much about it. I do know that they don't stim you (like you've said) and you won't retrieve as many eggs - they should be better quality in theory though.
I don't know what this is....explain please! I'd really like to know!
Alison
Thanks Jenny. I'll try SAIF.
Alison- I'm still trying to figure it all out myself.
I do know, that they retrieve immature eggs, then fertilize them in lab, then transfer. Theres no stimming like in IVF. I think its relatively new to the US. ( Forgot where I read that)

Hi there. I'm kinda late responding to this but I did 2 rounds of IVM. I'll be honest I wasn't overly impressed with it and it obviously didn't work for me. The first round I didn't make it to transfer due to an "infection" which they blamed on my husband but it wasn't from him. The second time I did make it to transfer but neither time did I ever get good quality of embryos. I did IVF next and that did work. I got a much better quality embryo unfortunately it ended in m/c at 8 weeks. I'm not sure if it was just my clinic, maybe they haven't perfected it yet but I think it needs more work. My RE actually said that they don't expect it to work the first time but hope to get a lot of embryos out of it and hopefully an FET would take. Not the case with me.
For those girls that don't know what IVM is....it's mainly for PCOS since these are the girls that are at a higher risk for OHSS. There are no stims involved so no OHSS. I took estrace to thicken my lining then they take immature eggs and mature them in the lab. They then do ivf on them. It takes one extra day than a regular IVF.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions
