Anyone notice a rise in the nn Dani?

I know three separate women who have nicknamed their daughters Dani. One has a dd named Danielle, one Danica, and the other Daniella.

Regional thing you think, or have you seen it, too?

  • I don't know anyone w/ this nn and I'm a teacher! Must be something about your area.

  • My name is Danielle and when I was younger I insisted people call me Dani. Of course, I grew out of that pretty quickly, and I was never called that at school. I did know someone else who actually did go by Dani and her name is Danielle.
  • My aunt's full name is Dani. I have always really liked it. Other than her I don't know anyone else with that name or nn.

  • Possibly regional-- I am just above you in Ohio and a friend from work named his daughter, who was born Sat., Danica. They are calling her Dani.

I like Danica but Dani seems very 80s to me.

  • I haven't noticed it on the rise in the mid-Atlantic region. The only Dani I know is in her 20s.
