Just wondering what you are going to have your mothers called when baby comes.
Are you picking out what you want your child to call their new grandma or is the grandma picking out what she wants to be called?
I am just asking because my MIL has picked out a name she wants to go by and I cannot stand it, but I will go with it if I have to.
Re: Names for "grandma"
Never thought about it, but I guess I should ask them.
So, I am dying to know. What does she want to be called?
Ninny.

We asked all the grandparents what they wanted to be called, and they all chose normal names, nothing weird:
DH's mom: Grandma
DH's stepdad: Grandpa
DH's dad: Grandpa (not sure how we're going to differentiate between the two)
My parents passed away when I was little and I was raised by my grandparents, so DH will call them by the names I called them: Grandmother and Granddaddy.
Great grandparents will be Bubby (it's Yiddish) and Abuela & Abuelo (they're Cuban)
I don't know what my Dad wants to be called but my mom says "Grandma" makes her feel old so she wants to be called "NaNa."
FIL will be pap or pappy (not the first grandchild on that side so the other kids have already established what to call him, yay!) MIL is deceased.
?
My mom chose Mom Mom and Pop Pop. I wasn't crazy about the names but didn't feel like fighting at the time. When DS started to actually say them, it was cute.

My mom and dad: Grammy and Gramps (Grammy was my mom's grandmother who she was close to)
MIL: Passed away 8 years ago
FIL: Is STILL telling people he wants to be called G-Diddy and he'll have his little Izzy. I think it's funny, DH is annoyed by it, lol.
He'll probably end up being Grandpop to our Bella.
For my parents my DD calls them grammy and grandpy (or best friend). My niece calls them grandma and papa.
For my ILs my DD calls them grandma and grandpa. My nephews call them grandma and papa.
I left it up to my DD to call them whatever she wanted and didn't necessarily go with what they wanted.
my parents are Grammy and Grampy
ILs are Nana and Pepere... MIL refused to be Memere... which I like better than Nana... we will see what the kids end up calling her!
It began as a joke, but we now refer to my mom as Banana.
As for his mom, no idea. She has requested NOT to be called "grandma" but hasn't said what else she would like, so we're thinking we'll let our daughter figure out what to call her.
My ILs chose their own names and my nephew learned to call them that. They are Mimi and Grandpa.
My parents also chose their own names and are Noni and Poppy.
Great grandparents are what DH and I called them--Nana and Grandpa.
I think Ninny is hilarious! She chose a name for herself that means "stupid"?!
My mom will be 50 and refuses to believe she's old enough to be a grandma
so she has demanded the baby calls her Nana (which I like so I don't care)
My dad: Grandpa
MIL & FIL: Grandma & Grandpa
My Grandparents: Grandma & Papa
my mom and dad are Nana and Poppa
MIL and FIL Nunna and pops...i absolutely hate those names...she found nunna on the internet...she is sooo wierd...and DH calls his dad pops so its just annoying cause its like FIL is both of their dad
We tried doing this, picking a name that DS would call his grandparents but most didn't work out. He ended up calling them whatever he could and they stuck.
My mom wanted to be Grammie Sue... She is now Ama (ah-mah), the name my DS gave her. My MIL didn't have a prefrence, but DS calls her Amm (like Ama with out the last -ah). The grandpas get called Papa because Grandpa was too hard to for DS to say when he was little. My Grandma wanted to be Great Grandma, but she is now just Grammie. the only person that picked her name is my Dad's mom. She is Gigi and DS could say that, so it stuck.
