I just noticed that my hands seem kind of swollen today. Is that normal this early in pregnancy? I of course hit Google and read all kinds of scary things. However I was just at the OB on Thursday and my blood pressure was just slightly elevated but nothing serious so I'm trying not to worry. I also had Chinese food for dinner last night and cottage cheese for breakfast so I guess the sodium isn't helping. But it's amazing how I can always find something to worry about....

Re: Swollen/puffy hands?
It could be from the sodium intake. Drink tons of water today and watch your sodium consumption. If you're not busy, lay down as much as you can. If it doesn't seem to get better by tomorrow, I would call the doc just for peace of mind. My hands didn't get puffy until close to the third tri, but I only had one in there.
Just another thing to consider.... I started to have elevated BP late in my second tri, and I went out and bought a digital blood pressure cuff. It really helped me put my mind at ease when I wasn't feeling well and was worried about my blood pressure.
Not sure about the swollen hands thing ... I would say if it's only slightly swollen don't worry about it but if it's a lot of swelling I'd try to drink lots of water and rest today and call first thing tomorrow if it doesn't improve.
Ditto JillRock regarding the BP cuff. I bought one at the end of my pgcy with DS when I was having issues and it was so nice to get peace of mind when I thought maybe it might be high. It would also catch a problem early if it started getting really high. I got mine for like $20-$30 at WalMart and I still use it from time to time this pgcy.
My fingers always feel swollen in the morning when I get up for some reason but it goes away as soon as I get up and move around, so I'm not very worried about it, but I was a little freaked out about it at first. I think it might be b/c I'm trying to sleep on my side & tend to have my arms bent or curled up & the fluid is probably not moving around much.
Are yours getting swollen at the end of the day or throughout the day, etc? Ditto pp about increasing water & decreasing sodium. I'd check your feet & ankles too, if you push w/ your thumb over the bony areas you can tell if you're having any swelling.
Try not to worry!!!!!!!!!!!
