ectopic pregnancy?

I'm probably just being paranoid, but this morning when I woke up I started noticing pain in my right side.  My first thought was, "Oh No! I have an ectopic pregnancy." The pain is not constant. I didn't notice it until I stood up & started walking.  Now as I sit here typing I can feel it when I exhale sometimes.  It feels like a dull pinch or something inside, right above my pelvic bone.  I was just wondering if anyone has had ectopic pregnancy? What did it feel like?  What were your symptoms? I have had very few symptoms so far. No spotting or nausea, just tender breasts & some other pelvic pinching (felt very different than this), that I brushed of as round ligament pain.  I know I'm probably just worried about nothing, but I haven't had my 1st u/s, this is my 1st pregnancy & I'm a little scared. Thanks

  • First of all relax.  It most likely is your uterus expanding.  However, if you are having concerns, I would call your physicain in the morning and tell them what you are feeling.  They most likely will have you come in to check everything out just for your own piece of mind.

Good Luck! and try to stay calm.  I know it is more easily said than done.

  • I had this so the Dr sent me for a u/s.  Everything was fine in there.  We just went back for our 12 week u/s and the baby is doing great.  I would call your Dr if you are concerned though.

  • sounds like common pain to me. I had similar pain and thought the same thing so I got an U/S and it turned out to be a cyst. Nothing they could do about it and it eventually went away. If you do develop symptoms of an e-preg go to ER otherwise, just enjoy one of the many joys of pregnancy (there are a lot more to come)
  • I had an eptopic prior to conceiving ds. It was super painful and you probably would have caught it earlier than this.

Have you had blood work done yet to confirm the preg? With my ectopic, my hcg levels were really really low at 5 weeks...super low, like "6" (when it should be like in the hundreds or thousands. Also spotting started right when my period would've been due.

Relax, I think you are fine. Good luck, h and h 9 months!

  • i would call your ob if you are concerned. i had right sided pain at 6 weeks that progressively got worse, was also having some spotting.  ob sent me for an ultrasound and i had a large corpus luteal cyst on the right ovary causing the pain.

  • I think ectopic you feel a lot of pain all the time.  What you could be feeling is the assist from you ovary that you O from.  It is normal to have this assist as that is what is feeding the pregnancy early on.   I had some of this pain I also has pain down the sides of my  butt when I leaned over but it went away as my pregnancy moved higher.  If you still have really bad pain and are worried you should talk to your doc.
  • When I had my ectopic a few years ago it was constant pain, it didn't come and go. I had the same thing you did the other morning (sharp pain on my right side) and when they did my u/s the next day they found a cyst. So it could be that. I also have very few symptoms. GL!
