Success after IF

going to IKEA -- what do I want?

A new IKEA opened up about an hour from here and I finally convinced DH to go!  I've only been to an IKEA once before and I didn't have much time then so I'm not all that familiar with *everything* they have in the store.  We'll be looking for some closet organizing things, but I want to stock up on other goodies too.  What should I be sure not to pass by?

We're going in the morning so I apologize for the last-minute question, but it's a completely last-minute decision!  Thanks so much!!!

Re: going to IKEA -- what do I want?

  • OH MAN, but they have SO MUCH STUFF. Funny DH and I are trying to get to Ikea tomorrow too. We need a new coffee table. Ours is the biggest pain in the @ss to clean because it has 4 pieces of glass in it and we have to take them out each time to clean and clean in the little crevises.

Anyway, I love checking out their kitchen stuff. Also they have nice decorating stuff but be careful, I bought too many and cluttered up my life. Then I had to put them all in my moms attic.

  • Thanks!  Yeah, we definitely DON'T need decorating stuff -- we already have too much crap...hence the need to organize, LOL!

I really need a new way to organize Kira's diapers and toys since we keep them downstairs, and I'd love to organize her closet better since she has so many clothes.  I'm also thinking maybe something for the bathroom?  Any other departments/items I need to check out?  We'll hit everything we can since we're allowing plenty of time, but I don't want to blink and miss the best thing, you know? ;)

    Thanks again!

  • I love their kitchen stuff, lights, gardening stuff.

I bought a pitcher for water there about 10 years ago...still have it and still love it.?

  • eat a meal there! their cafeteria is pretty decent, and very family friendly. from what I've heard the kids section of the store has a lot of good stuff.

I usually skip the floor with all the furniture and just head to the "marketplace" floor which has all the smaller organizing stuff.

    have fun!

  • The bibs with sleeves are awesome. I love their gardening and outdoor decorating stuff for summer. I got most of our wedding decorations there.

Can you check out their potties for me? Its hard to see them in the catalogue, and I am wondering how good they are.

There is no IKEA any where near me, so I am so jealous. I have to wait for a family member to go on a trip to get stuff I want!

  • Oh fun! I live in the CLT area & actually work pretty close to the Ikea but haven't been to it yet. In the past (in other states) I've mostly gone there for furniture but I really want to check out their organization stuff too!

As someone else said, they have all the accessory stuff in a separate area from the furniture so if you're not looking for any furniture,  just head straight to the other section. It's a huge store & the lines can be long so be patient & wear comfy shoes ;).

Definitely post & let us know what you got!

  • Thanks, everyone!  We're on our way -- notes taken!!! :)
