The only place in my area to register is BRU, so that is where I am setting up my registry. I am crazy for finding bargains and it is absolutely killing me that the prices at BRU are much higher than I am finding the products elsewhere (stroller, mattress, high chair, etc.). Plus they rarely have sales. For example, the stroller I am registering for at BRU is $225 and I have found it all over the web for around $140. I considered setting up something along the lines of myregistry.com to compile everything but I'm sure my family would never use it, they'll just go to BRU. I am so tempted to just buy some stuff myself before my showers. To me if its not discounted its a waste of money
Re: Prices at BRU are killing me.....
Well... you could ask that your friends get you receipts. Could you return what you don't want from BRU and buy it elsewhere for cheaper?

That's what I did -- I made sure that our immediate family members (i.e. the grandparents) bought for the cheapest prices, and I left everything else on the BRU registry. My car seat, stroller, nursery furniture/mattress, etc. were all purchased elsewhere. It gave more options too; they sold my exact stroller at BRU, but the car seat only in a different color, and not our furniture at all. I can't *stand* for people to pay more than necessary.
And now that BRU won't let you return without a receipt, I would have been even more stuck. Best wishes!!!

I, myself, wouldn't of bought some of the stuff on my registry but my family and friends were willing too.
Like PP said, just ask that they save receipts.
There were several bigger items that I was able to get on fabulous sale (thanks to Pam's head's up!) that my family could not access (AAFES--for military members and their families). I got my convertible car seat, travel system and high chair for 33% off, free shipping and no sales tax. . . I could not pass it up. Plus, I figured we'd be buying those anyway as family has already bought our crib, dresser and glider.
If there are a few items that are such good deals--buy them yourself! I'd hate to think our families were spending more than they had to. (In fact, I bought my BFF the vary same high chair I got and I spent, between the cost, shipping and tax, about $50 more for hers at BRU. Grrrr.)
I might be alone here but I actually like BRU with regards to pricing. While they are typically more expensive they do have coupons for 15% or more off frequently. Additionally you can sign up for their rewards program and earn $5 off coupons. My husband and I just bought our stroller and used a 15% coupon and 10% off for multiples, that combined with the rewards we had received we saved 80 today. I like that you have the option to combine discounts there. Yesterday we bought two mobiles for 75% off because they are discontinuing Amy Coe bedding there.
They can be cheaper if you have coupons or look around for clearance items. My other option is Target here and they never have coupons, at least I've never received one.
However, hardly anything was bought off our registry there. I don't think they are worth the prices without coupons and for people buying gifts they probably wouldn't have the coupons.
