Have any of you asked your OB/GYN about taking Midol while you're TTC? I get such horrible cramps, but I don't want to take anything that might have a negative effect.
By the way, which medications are safe to take while you're TTC and after? Tylenol, advil, etc??
Thanks, ladies!! ![]()
Re: TTC + Midol?
I would try google for this info. And you could always call your doc about the midol.

True. ?They can stay... I'm bored.?
I just started getting really bad cramps today. It's been two weeks since my last period, and I'm not sure what's going on right now.
My DH is away on a conference (coming back tomorrow), and I've been having such horrible cramps!! I don't want to take medicine that might potentially have a negative effect.
I guess I could've googled for this information, but I was hoping someone on this board might have some reliable information from her OB/GYN.

What are your cycles like? abnormal in length? Variable etc? Even though its has only been two weeks you could be having a legitimate period in which case take the midol.
What are the cramps like? Are they normal period cramps or just sharp pains in the lower mid side of your stomach?
True; cramping can be due to anything! Oh, how I miss those carefree (and cramp free) days on BC!
I read somewhere that there's something called 'implantation cramps'..
My cycles pre-BC were pretty normal- I just had really bad cramps and breakouts. I've only been off BC for the past two weeks.
Cramps are similar to normal period cramps... accompanied by stomaches after eating.
There are a number of things including implantation bleeding/possible cramping as well as ovulation pain and just odd cycles. Are you charting or tracking your ovulation, periods etc in anyway? If you aren't I strongly suggest you do so to help you in situations such as this. Then you would have a better clue as to what the pain could be from etc.
It's highly unlikely (borderline impossible) that you can have implantation at two weeks....but possible ovulation pain. Either way, I doubt midol would hurt you in anyway at this stage but you can always take tylenol.

Given this new information, your cycles can be extremely wonky coming off BC for a long time. Take the midol and please educate yourself on your body and chart. Good resources would be Taking Charge of Your Fertility and fertilityfriend.com YW
Thanks, Buckin! It's great to hear from you again (now that I can finally post)!
I will probably start charting after my next period. In the meantime, my DH gave me this nifty turnwheel thing that predicts ovulation, and birth! Haha.. I'm sure that charting will be more accurate.
Basically the only "safe" meds are Tums and Tylenol when you are pregnant. If you want to know for sure use www.safefetus.com
You can take what ever you need OTC-wise while TTC. Just stop using anything that might pose a risk after you get a positive.
