Babies: 0 - 3 Months

registry question-

Hi ladies!! thought all of you would be the experts in the area! DH and I registered this morning. We were wondering the best type of diaper rash cream? There were so many to choose from!! What do you guys recommend?

Also- would all of you recommend a humidifier for the nursery? We were unsure about that too!

TIA

Re: registry question-

  • I have good luck with Aquaphor and butt paste. Destin is ok also. We did not use a humidifier for the nursery, but I guess it depends if your house is really dry.

  • Yes on the humidifier. We have already used ours for 1 week straight for DD. Good to have up into their toddler years.
  • Aquaphor is probably a good choice since you can use it for things other than just diaper rash, such as when Baby starts drooling and gets a bit of a rash on her face. (Although, to be honest, looking at the active ingredients, I don't know what the difference is between Aquaphor and Vaseline other than the price tag.. maybe someone can enlighten me.)

We have a humidifier in our daughter's room, but we've hardly used it. It depends on the climate where you live, the season, and how your baby reacts to both. We ran ours a couple nights when she seemed a little stuffy, but I don't really think it made much difference.

  • We use our humidifier every day.  It comes in handy when your LO is stuffy in the beginning, gets a cold, or if the air is dry.  We put Vaseline on DS at every diaper change as a barrier cream and have never had diaper rash.  People here seem to like butt paste and A+D.

  • When we took our baby care class at the hospital, the nurse leading the class said Aquafor was best.  We have yet to use it on DS' bum, but we use it in the folds of his neck to help with the milk rash.
