What does your ute feel like?

This is mostly for the ladies who already have a bit of a bump forming or already has a child.  I know that at my week,  your ute should just be poking out from behind your pubic bone.  However, when I woke up this morning my stomach was flat but from about an inch below my belly button down is hard as a rock!  I was thinking its just wierd bloat, but usually bloat is squishy.

I haven't had an exam yet (i go on Friday) so I don't know anything about my baby.  I keep having these twin intuitions, but I don't read much into them.  I could be further along than I thought, but I highly doubt it.

have I completely lost my mind?  Or is my body giving me some strange bloat?

Obviously, my doctor will set me straight... but I'm looking for a bit of input.

TIA!

Re: What does your ute feel like?

  • It could just be poop and not bloat??

  • Mine has been feeling "solid" like yours. It is not too early for you to be able to feel your ute. BTW this is my second child.

  • Usually you don't feel the ute above the pubic bone until week 12. To feel it at you belly button usually happens at week 20. If you are 9 weeks along, I think you are more likely feeling your intestines/ poop

  • That sounds like bloat, but my ute is definately tight up about 3inches from my belly button.
  • Your uterus is a muscle, so it should feel on the firm side, but it doesn't make its way past the pubic bone until around week 11-12.  It reaches the belly button at week 20.
  • I've been feeling mine right above the pubic bone since about 9 weeks. It never goes away and verrrrrrry slooooooowwwwwwwwy it's been growing. But it feels just like you described. Are you very tall? If you're short (like I am), you may be able to feel it sooner. And I can only feel it if I'm standing up.

Yes, I'm tall, somewhere between 5'10-11ish.  But, I'm really short waisted and all legs!

Everyone:  Thanks for your input!  I'm excited to have my doctor/midwife (haven't met who i'm assigned to, yet) tell me exactly where everything is located at this point.
