Losing weight/lifestyle change before ttc

Since it's a little slow, I thought I'd ask.  Have or are any of you trying to lose weight or changing your diet or exercise habits in preparation for ttc?  I do have a book called "Fertility Cycles and Nutrition" that was suggest by our nfp instructor that I am going to start reading but was wondering if any of you have done anything in differently.

Re: Losing weight/lifestyle change before ttc

  • Other than paying more attention to my diet I did not change my lifestyle.  I have been trying to eat healthier, no alcohol, very little caffeine, PNV etc.  Trying to get into the habits I will need to have when pg.

  • i'm trying to lose weight, but it's been really hard.  I work out harder than I used to, and my diet is slightly better (more fruit, less sugar), but the weight I gained over the holidays is still there.  I think it's just a part of getting older.  I'm disappointed.
  • I am trying to drop a few pounds.  So far, I am down about 17.  I ideally would like to lose another 20, but we will see.

  • I've been trying for 8 months with no success. However, this past month I have lost about 8 pounds and quit smoking, and voila! I think even just a little bit of a lifestyle change makes a huge difference. Although to be fair both things were because I had my tonsils out, so I had to, lol. I won't pretend it was willpower.

Pretty much what she said.  Rather, this is what I should be doing.  I go back and forth between wanting to wean myself off of my glass of wine in the evenings, and treasuring it while I can because soon I won't be able to.

  • I didn't really change my lifestyle but I regularly work out, eat healthy, etc. The only significant change I made was not binge drinking during the TWW - I'd still have 2-3 drinks when I felt like it though.
  • i tried to get in great shape before dd was  born and i am currently doing that now (we are ttc) i thought it made it easier to work out during pg and easier to lose the weight afterwards
